Is this one vital, vital reason why illegals must undergo heath screenings before being allowed in America HIV is a serious medical problem and do we ned ilegals sneaking with such harsh medical conditions and the Lation’s do not & take precatuions this poses a medical danger to illeglsl and legal alike did you know ab ilegal with HIV can run up tab into the milions of dollars .How can America afford to provide treatment at a time when our country is going broke do we realy need to import HIV ?Washington, DC (CapitalWirePR) December 2, 2008 –On World AIDS Day December 1, 2008 the Latino Commission on AIDS released “Shaping the New Response: HIV/AIDS and Latinos in the Deep South” Report, documenting the extraordinarily high rates of HIV and AIDS diagnoses among Latinos, the apparent contributing factors to this health crisis and recommendations for future action in the Deep South (Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina)*. Shaping the New Response reached its conclusions after two years of research including more than 300 interviews, 8 roundtables covering all 7 states, analysis of epidemiological data, and a review of relevant studies.

There are 2,052,227 Latinos in these seven states (as of 2007) which is an increase of 431% since the 1990 census. Latinos range from a high of 7.5% of the population in Georgia to 1.8% for Mississippi. But in rates of HIV and AIDS diagnosis Latinos present a startling portrait. While Latinos have far lower rates of HIV and AIDS diagnoses than that among Blacks in the region, Latinos have significantly higher rates than that among Whites in the Deep South. In 2006 Latinos were 2 to 3 times more likely to be living with HIV/AIDS and 3 to 10 times more likely to be diagnosed with AIDS than Whites in the Deep South.

“Many public health professionals in the region are asking Latinos are presenting with such high levels of HIV/AIDS. The answers from the Commission’s research are relatively simple – a lack of culturally and linguistically competent prevention and health care resources, distrust and lack of access to prevention and care providers given the anti-immigrant social and legal restrictions imposed by most States in the region, a well organized commercial sex industry, and a complete lack of programs for Spanish speaking men who have sex with men,” said Tim Frasca, primary author of Shaping the New Response.

“There are many professionals in health care institutions, community based organizations and State/County health departments that understand the difference between a public health crisis and the politics of the immigration debate. These local heroes are attempting to reverse these health outcomes while responding to an overwhelming health crisis among regional Black populations and there are elected officials who pretend that the problem does not exist. Most of the public health professionals we spoke to understood that the Latino HIV/AIDS epidemic can have extensive repercussions for each State and they have great ideas on how to stop it”, said Guillermo Chacon, Vice-President of the Latino Commission on AIDS.

“If we are to attack this health crisis like any other health emergency, public health needs the freedom and resources to do its job. We need a local infrastructure that will advocate and provide for increased services for Latinos at risk for and with this disease. Much basic research needs to be done on creative models for prevention and care for this very mobile population. No one should delude themselves into thinking that the variables that are producing this HIV/AIDS emergency are not also affecting other areas of critical health care for Latinos,” said Miriam Vega, PhD, Director of Research and Evaluation for the Commission.

The report contains a synthesis of recommendations from roundtables held in each state on Latinos and HIV/AIDS and additional recommendations from the Latino Commission on AIDS. The full copy of the Report is available at http://www.latinoaids.org . Printed copies of Shaping the New Response: HIV/AIDS and Latinos in the Deep South with illustrations can also be ordered at this website.

*There are many definitions of the Deep South and the Southeastern United States used by different groups. These states were selected for study as the “Deep South” by the Ford Foundation which funded this study.

Football fans have been warned not to put their sexual health at risk during the World Cup. A leading sexual health charity have said they are concerned that excessive drinking during the football season could lead football supporters to have unprotected sex.

A poll for the Terence Higgins Trust has shown that 1 in 10 football fans aged between 18 and 34 get so drunk while watching a game they forget what they did afterwards. The poll has raised fears that as the fans travel to South Africa for the cup, they may put their lives at risk.

South Africa has the highest rate of HIV and AIDS in the world, meaning that fans who have unprotected sex could not only catch an infection that is relatively easy to treat, such as Chlamydia, they could put their lives at risk.

Once someone has had a chlamydia test, the infection can be cleared up with a course of antibiotics, but HIV can be potentially life-threatening and sufferers must spend the rest of their lives taking a powerful cocktail of anti-retroviral drugs.

Condoms are recommended as the best protection against HIV and other infections, and those who are sexually active should visit their local GUM clinic yearly.

A spokewoman for the charity, Genevieve Edwards, said: “With the UK having the worst sexual health in Western Europe and 5.2 million people living with HIV and Aids in South Africa – the highest rate in any country – it’s vitally important sports fans look after themselves by using condoms throughout the World Cup this summer, whether at home or abroad.”

The poll also showed that while sports lovers were likely to suffer from temporary amnesia after too many beers, they were less likely to be prompted by dutch courage to ask someone out. Out of 2,000 people 2% said that they would be prompted by drink to ask someone out, while 1% said that they met a partner while watching a football match.

To try and raise awareness of the potential for catching an STD, THT has published a guide for those travelling to South Africa, entitled “Scoring without getting an own goal.” They hope that sports fans will follow their tips for lowering risk, whether they stay in England or travel to S.A.

The guide, which uses some rather fantastic football-related euphemisms (“mouthing off at the ref” for oral sex), recommends that fans take their own condoms to S.A and get an STD test when they return home.

Health authorities are doubtless extremely worried by the poll, since the many football fans fall into the groups particularly at risk both of developing an STD and failing to regularly get a chlamydia test and or a full STD test. Authorities have identified men aged between 18-24 as the group least likely to get a chlamydia test or visit their local GUM clinic.

Jenny Williams is a writer of this article. He has written many articles on GUM clinihc and STD test. He recommends you to visit http://www.thesticlinic.com/ for more on Std test.

HIV and Aids is a serious problem that affects adults, young people and children alike. HIV stands for ‘Human Immunodeficiency Virus’ which causes Aids. Aids, on the other hand, stands for ‘Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome’. Aids breaks down the body’s defenses so the body is unable to fight off some illnesses.

The HIV virus can be passed on through the exchange of blood, semen and vaginal fluids. This usually occurs during sexual intercourse and sharing needles with an infected person; and babies being born to a mother who is HIV positive. Other forms of spreading are through blood transfusions; however, this is very rare.

Contrary to common belief, HIV is not spread through kissing, shaking hands or hugging an infected person.

It is very important to always practice safe sex and avoid having casual sex. HIV can be prevented by always using a condom during sexual intercourse including oral and anal sex. Taking illegal drugs, especially those that are injected can increase the risk of becoming infected. Not taking illegal drugs is the best preventative step; however, if you do take drugs, try to seek advice from a close and trusted relative, a teacher, GP or school nurse. Avoid sharing needles.

It can be very difficult to tell someone that you have had unsafe sex or that you are or have taken illegal drugs. However, it is crucial that you approach a medical professional for advice, especially in order to have a blood test done to test for infections. They will also be able to assist you in talking to your parents about it, as well as provide you with advice on do’s and don’ts or refer you to specialist services such as counseling and drug intervention programmes.

If you are worried about having had unsafe Sex and affected with HIV and AIDS then you can take immediate steps and get support and information about this disease.

No matter what your background is, HIV does not discriminate. Neri, Kiren, Huyen and Pharozin are all women living with HIV. This is their story. Like diamonds, formed under immense pressure to become the strongest and most brilliant natural substance known on earth, these women have overcome incredible challenges to emerge as shining examples, advocates for women living with HIV and AIDS. In this documentary, the women share their stories with Susan Paxton, author and HIV activist. They talk about their journeys, about the threat of losing their children, the fear of being cast out by society, of eventually accepting themselves as positive women and ultimately becoming leaders in their communities. Their lives carry a powerful message of hope and empowerment. Diamonds is the result of a unique process where people living with HIV/AIDS have been involved in the film’s production, from beginning to end.

I often wonder how many people would decide to visit any of the hunger and pain stricken cities of Africa, instead of going to the Caribbean or any other beautiful place for their vacations.-

Nobody wants to see, feel and confront the horrible truth that is destroying the lives of

millions.- Misery, hunger, poverty, sickness and fatalities,- is something you try to avoid above all things.- You watch it on T.V., and read it in the newspapers, but latter try to dismiss it from your mind.- Too “Depressing”.-!!!

WELL, I THINK IT IS ABOUT TIME WE CONFRONT THE TRUTH:

More that 590,00 persons, including children have already died in a period of one year in Kwazule – Natal, South Africa, due to HIV, Tuberculosis, influenza, pneumonia, intestinal infectious diseases and hunger.- This number is followed by Guateng and the Northern Cape – Limpopo, where the number of deaths is 200,000 and raising.- 65% of deaths related to HIV and AIDS.-

In some other cities, like Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Mozambique,- the number of deaths is estimated at 800 per day. That is 288,000 a year.-

This implies that around 5.5 MILLION of South Africans are living with HIV, including

250,000 children under 13 years old.

There are 825 “MILLIONS” of hunger stricken people worldwide, as a result of oppression poverty, lack of drinkable water and many other factors.

Africa, Asia, India, Afghanistan, parts of the Middle East, North Korea, Ethiopia, Central and South America, Haiti.- Among the most food and water stricken countries:

Mozambique,- Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi (All in South Africa).-

From 30 to 40 MILLION People in Sub-Saharan Africa (Kikuyu, Nairobi, Kenya).- Are suffering and will probably die,- due to Poverty, thirst, hunger, diseases and AIDS.-

More than 1 “BILLION” PEOPLE WORLD WIDE, including children “ARE” chronically

dying of hunger, lack of medications, medical attention, drinkable water.-

Every year, 13 to 18 MILLION PEOPLE die as a result of hunger and illnesses.- That is

24 human beings “EVERY MINUTE”–, 18 of whom are children under 5 years of age.- The majority in AFRICA.

More people have died from hunger and other diseases, than all those who were killed in World War ONE and World War Two. (Combined).-

The number of people who die EVERY DAY is equivalent to the number of those who were killed instantly by the Hiroshima Bomb, and the worst earthquake in modern history

(500,000), in China in 1976.

The numbers are “STAGGERING”,- SO IMMENSE that nothing can describe the situation of poverty and desperation of these countries.

To make matters worse,– in AFRICA,-there is a prolonged drought that has withered harvests of the small amounts of produce they were trying to grow – Specially South Africa:

Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe. But even if the rainy season produces crop, it doesn’t do much good if there is no one to harvest it .- Most of them are either dead or dying,-

The help of The Red Cross and other organizations in Africa, is like a drop of water in the Sahara Dessert.- Other sources like United Nations, Community Food Bank (CFB), UNICEF,- provide food, medicines or money, which are confiscated by the corrupt government of these countries for their own pockets and personal benefit.-

The Holocaust in Germany, as horrible and insane as it was,- can not compare to the horrifying situation of these people. At least, the Holocaust had an end.- I do not see an end for the terrible situation of these “BILLIONS” of people.

This, specially in Africa, is a “GENOCIDE”, and there are many who must be held responsible for this horror.- Starting with the many corrupt governments of these forgotten countries.-

And PLEASE, DO NOT BLAME GOD for this terrible situation.- He gave us brains, hands, eyes, and ears, but it is up to us what we do or how we act in THE NAME OF HUMANITY.-

To think that OUR PETS live better than these poor human beings,- simply makes my mind spin.-They eat and have fresh water every day. We take them to the veterinarian for a simple injury or illness.- Some people leave millions of dollars, after their deaths, just for the future care of their pets.

Others spend Millions on houses or apartments, jewelry, Cars,–without thinking, for one single second, of going to one of these countries and helping a family.- With just $5,000.00 US Dollars, they could save the lives of 50 children – As long as the money goes directly to the families, not through any government. –Just think how many families and children could be saved with only one million dollars, which is just “pocket money” for these millionaires.

Lets pray that more people open their hearts in trying to help these human beings,- that after all,- ARE AND WILL ALWAYS BE OUR BROTHERS.-

When you receive the Seal your thoughts change. And that changes your behavior. One of the most crucial changes is avoiding risky sexual behaviors. This is now even more crucial since more people have HIV and AIDS than previously thought.

The United States government is preparing to release new estimates of the number of people infected with HIV or AIDS. Insiders say that number is due to increase drastically.

In fact, that number is said to be increasing at least a third over what the government previously said. More people have HIV or AIDS than has been reported. And that means there is more risk for the average person.

Of course the average person is not at risk for HIV as much as a person who injects drugs with needles or a homosexual person. But the risk still exists, and there is much more risk to get other sexually transmitted diseases.

There is chlamydia, herpes, gonorrhea, and syphilis. These diseases have become much more common in the recent days along with their more deadly counterpart HIV.

These other STDs do not usually kill their victims and can be treated. But a person getting treatment for these diseases can still spread them to other people, another reason not to be a part of any risky sexual behavior.

So far the US government has estimated that 40,000 people come down with HIV every year. Those are some sobering statistics. That is a huge number of people. And now the numbers are even higher.

Experts say the new government figure is going to be 55,000 people or even a higher number. Some of those people will die. Some of them will live terribly compromised lives for a while. For all of them it is the end.

Yet it is not always the end of their risky behavior. Some people with HIV or AIDS continue to share needles and practice unprotected sex. They have an addiction to behavior that is now not only self-destructive but hurts others as well.

New cases of HIV have been estimated at 40,000 for at least 10 years now, but as time passed, Federal funding for AIDS prevention has dropped considerably. So there is less focus on prevention. And the number of cases is climbing.

One of the problems with estimates is that HIV can take several years before it shows up in tests or makes a person sick at all. This is one of the insidious qualities of the disease–it can be spread without even revealing itself.

There are around 1 million people who are still alive and have the AIDS virus in America today. So there are at least a million people who can “share” the HIV virus with you, and 40,000 to 55,000 new ones each year.

You can break your addictions. When you become sealed God does some work on you. He breaks down those old addictions and helps you change into a wonderful new person.

You may not be addicted to heroin, cocaine, or methamphetamines, and so you may not inject drugs with a needle. But you may have an addiction to unprotected sex, which translates into uncommitted sex.

God will break that addiction for you. That addiction to uncommitted sex is the one God is most concerned about. It can kill you physically with AIDS. And if it does not kill you with AIDS it will kill your soul.

But you can become sealed. And when you do your thinking will change. And your behavior will follow. You may still be tempted but you will no more act on those thoughts when you receive the Seal.

While in 6th grade, Louise Davis sees an HIV positive friend get AIDS-related infection and pass away. The effect is lasting and pushes Davis to then begin volunteering locally at HIV/AIDS organization Project Open Hand in San Francisco. Meeting HIV positive peers, Davis sees how with proper health education and empowerment, transmission could be significantly reduced. Over time, this leads Davis to start Peer Health Exchange (www.peerhealthexchange.org) to provide health education and healthy decision-making skills to teens.
