A public service announcement in English and Spanish about getting tested for HIV/AIDS. Produced by Patrick and Pascuale for Brett M. Rhyne’s Introduction to Communications class, Salem State College, Fall 2008. “The simple directness of this PSA is both effective and subtle. There is no B-roll, just two speakers appealing directly to us through the camera lens. The hook is that Patrick T. and Pascuale R. alternate making that appeal in both English and Spanish. The subtlety comes with the dialogue. Sandwiched between HIV statistics are two appeals: one for us to get tested, and the other for us to encourage our lawmakers to make it easier and less stigmatizing to do so. A most intelligent PSA.”
